Both of these specialties award Occupational Endorsements.

To assess which program is best for your needs, you may want to look at how much hands-on experience you get. At AVTEC—Alaska’s Institute of Technology, for instance, 60% of your time is spent on hands-on education.

Trucking and diesel salaries vary from person to person. Truckers earn an average salary of $51,280 per year, but you may be able to earn more as an owner-operator or over-the-road driver. The average salary for diesel mechanics is $55,910 per year (O*Net, 2012). You may be able to earn more money once you become ASE-certified and gain experience in the field.
